COME AND HELP US CELEBRATE 40
YEARS, SAYS YORKSHIRE FEDERATION
Were you ever a member
or otherwise involved with
the Yorkshire Federation
of Young Farmers? If so,
you are urged to join in
the celebrations as the
branch celebrates its 40th
Anniversary, with a Dinner
Dance in York on 12 April.
David Teasdale, current
County chairman and Helmsley
YFC member, said: “We are
urging all past members,
friends and associates to
contact us and join in our
celebrations.”
The Yorkshire Federation
was formed in December
1973 following its creation
from the amalgamation of the
North and West Yorkshire
Ridings after local government
reorganisation.
A Dinner Dance has been
organised for Saturday 12th
April 2014 at York Racecourse
to celebrate the landmark
anniversary. Tickets are
available in advance from
the County Office on 01423
865870.
‘We urge anyone
interested in
coming along
to get in touch’
David added: “We are hoping
that as many past and present
members and supporters of
the movement will join us to
celebrate. Unfortunately we
have not been able to contact
everyone personally but would
urge anyone interested in
joining us to get in touch.”
Yorkshire Federation currently
has 1,100 members aged
10-26 years spread across 47
clubs covering North, South
and West Yorkshire.
The Federation has evolved
over the last 40 years to meet
member’s needs, but many of
the traditional activities such
as stock judging and public
speaking, remain important
aspects. The competition
year culminates at the annual
rally which is the major focus
for members throughout
the year with more than 60
competitions taking place on
the day.
David commented: “Young
Farmers gives members the
opportunity to learn new skills
and develop personally in a
fun environment. We hope
that the anniversary dinner will
allow people to catch up with
old friends whilst reminiscing
about YFC days.”
