EVENT FORGES AHEAD
UNDER NEW CHAIRMAN
The Farmer’s Mart is committed to encouraging
the education and involvement of young people
in farming and the countryside. Here we find out
about one Northern initiative that has been doing
just that with great success for the past decade.

John Renner is the new
chair of the Glendale
Agricultural Society’s
Children’s Countryside
Day committee, and
given his background
and commitment to the
Committee’s aims, he is
clearly an ideal choice to
head up exciting plans for
2014.
John, who with his wife,
Helen, farms a 237 acre
traditional mixed farm at
Bellshill near Belford, has a
lifetime knowledge of farming,
and has been involved and
on the committee for the
Children’s Countryside Day
since its inception 10 years
ago.
