4 EDITOR’S INTRO
DEC/JAN 2018 • farmers-mart.co.uk
Welcome to the
first issue of
Farmer’s Mart
for 2018, I hope you
all had a great Christmas
and happy New Year.
That’s another year finished, another
round of Christmas festivities over and
done with. It’s a new year and a brand-
new start for Farmer’s Mart, not only do
we have a new look, but we also have a
new editor. Pat has handed over the reins
to me, and has moved across to edit one
of our other publications The Locksmith,
after doing a sterling job with Farmers.
THIS new look magazine will
also feature some new seg-
ments, such as Technology,
which we start off with a look
at using drones for agricultural
purposes.
So, what do we have planned
for 2018, well this month we’ll
be visiting LAMMA and report-
ing back from the show. Brexit
will continue to be a hot topic
this year as we move closer to
leaving the EU. We’ll keep you
up to date with all the develop-
ments that occur with Brexit,
and we start the year featur-
ing an interview with Michael
Gove.
We’ll continue to feature
farmers from around the UK,
and hope to also start featuring
some of the younger generation
from the agricultural industry
especially those who are just
starting out. 2017 saw a bumper
harvest for many, and hopefully
this year’s harvest will also be
just as successful. We plan to
cover the harvest in detail in the
June/July issue and in Aug/Sept,
with some possible spill over
into Oct/Nov as well.
As usual we will be cover-
ing the Great Yorkshire Show,
which will include a preview
prior to the show and an
after-show report. We’ll also
continue to bring you all the
latest news and information
throughout the year.
If you’re interested in being
featured in a future edition of
Farmer’s Mart, we’d like to hear
from you. Whether it’s an event,
modernising, new to farming,
won an award or simply proud
of what you do. Then get in touch
and we’ll do all the editorial,
