BAINBRIDGE ENGINEERING BAINBRIDGE ENGINEERING: VERSATILITY, QUALITY AND SOLID EXPERIENCE A suitably crisp autumn day saw me visiting the White Cross Farm in Cold Kirby, Thirsk in North Yorkshire, home to Bainbridge Engineering. This thriving agricultural engineering business is run by husband and wife team, Cyril and Wendy Bainbridge. The team of four has carved out an enviable reputation built on a combination of solid experience, quality work at the right price, and a versatile approach to customer’ needs - after paying careful attention to what they require. Firewood Processing Equipment Splitters, Saws Processors & Cranes Cyril has over 30 years’ of experience to draw on, starting out as a humble apprentice for Brian Otterburn at Harome as an Agricultural engineer in the early 80s before setting up business on his own. Then in 1988, following a timely conversation with Keenan’s then managing director at the Smithfield Show, Cyril became a specialist in feeders, looking after customers in other areas, including Great Yarmouth, Sheffield, Manchester and Scarborough as well as still working for local farmers. This lasted until the onslaught ‘Everything that goes out of here has to be right’ of Foot and Mouth and it was in the black year of 2001 that Cyril entered his toughest time - following what he regards as one of the best decisions he ever made - to go independent. No longer having all his eggs in one basket, he could now use all his acquired knowledge and skill to tackle all makes of feeders. Initially, to keep his business’s head above water, Cyril took on work for local Fertiliser & Lime Spreaders GPS & Weigh Cell models 01944 768232 www.ryetec.co.uk 74 Dec/Jan 2014 FarmersMart To read more, visit www.farmers-mart.co.uk
