Live 2016
A great day
for Galloways
at World
Congress
It was a great privilege that the
“Galloway Families” The Galloways,
Belted and Riggit Cattle Societies
welcomed the Galloway World
Organisation to the home land
of Galloway for the 11th Galloway
World Congress in August.
» A WIDE AND VARIED
programme from cattle,
castles, tartan, spectacular
scenery and the very best of
local food were provided to
the 260 delegates from 12
different countries.
‘as a result,
the number
of delegates
out passed
all the
organiser’s
expectations’
It is 16 years since the
last UK world congress
and as a result, the
number of delegates
out passed all the
organiser’s expectations.
The delegates visited
Dumfries and Lockerbie
show on their first day of
the World Congress, then
on the Sunday it was the
official business and after
that there followed three
days of interesting farm
tours from the borders,
to the very south west of
Scotland and the heartland
of Galloway - and there
was also a trip to the world
famous Edinburgh Tattoo.
» ANIMALS GALORE,
fabulous food and a host
of hands-on activities for
all ages are just some of
the ingredients for the 14th
Countryside Live which will
be held at the Great Yorkshire
Showground, Harrogate on
Saturday and Sunday 22 and
23 October 2016.
Thousands of people are
expected to be heading for
the rural extravaganza ,
amongst them will be the
Gregg Wallace of BBC’s
MasterChef fame.
‘a show for all the
family, with plenty
to see and do’
The show is run Yorkshire
Agricultural Society, best
known as organisers of the
Great Yorkshire Show.
Show Director Charles Mills
said: “It’s very much a show
for all the family, with plenty
