Inspirational farming siblings at your service
»»Whilst most elevenyear-olds were glued to
their X-Box or Nintendo,
Deepcar brothers Shane and
Dean Goodlad spent every
working hour working on a
farm in Midhopestones, near
Stocksbridge.
The experience stuck with
them. In fact it inspired them
to set up their own agricultural
contract hire business and, on
leaving school, they bought
their first tractor and started
offering their services locally.
Their reputation for hard
work and quality service was
soon going before them and
they made enough money
to invest still further in their
fledgling S&D Goodlad
business with new equipment
and additional services.
Seven years on and they’re
now offering a whole raft of
Dean (left) and Shane Goodlad (middle) with Michael Bell
services to businesses right
across the region.
These include:
• Hedge cutting with flail and
saw blade.
• Slurry spreading, 2500
gallon tanker with 5 metre
injectors and splash plate
• Tractor and operator hire:
160 HP, 50K, front linkage
and pto. 130 HP, 40K,
loader and front linkage.
• Tractor and flat bed trailer.
• Square bale wrapping,
yard and in field.
• Bale stacking, round and
square.
• Silage carting.
• Muck carting.
• Mowing with conditioner.
Their entrepreneurial talents
were spotted by celebrated
business visionary, Sheffieldborn Michael Bell.

He invited them to be the first

which is aimed at mentoring new
and developing businesses.
Shane Goodlad said: “When
you’re working flat out trying
to develop a business you’re
often so busy doing the job you
can miss major opportunities or
make the wrong decision.
“Working with Michael Bell
has raised our game higher
than we could ever dream of
doing. It has opened doors and
made us a far stronger business
going further.”

their services to farms in both
South and West Yorkshire.
