30 RICKERBY OPEN EVENT APR/MAY 2020 • farmers-mart.co.uk Tanco Leads the way – Reliability & Strength At the 2020 Rickerby Show Tanco had their range of bale wrapper’s and bale feeding implement’s on display. FEATURING on their stand was a special I-73 bale Shear painted in the well-known original Tanco blue colour to mark 140 years of Rickerby Ltd and the companies association with Cumbria. The original Tanco blue colour has a connection with Cumbria as the colour originated from the Backbarrow area of South Cumbria where Tanco had an assembly and paint facility in the 1970’s & 1980’s. Ultramarine, or ‘Dolly Blue’, for use in fabric colouring was mined in the Backbarrow area and the dust from the factory work’s gave a blue dust tint to the village, so the Tanco machines were painted the same colour. The I-73 is designed for feeding round bales and features a unique patented clamp which retains the net & plastic from the bale when the bale is cut meaning the loader operator does not have to leave the cab to remove the net & plastic. New for 2020, and also on display at the 2020 Rickerby Show, was the new Tanco Q-Series square & round bale wrapper, which can be either used on the front or rear linkage or a handler. On display was the 2 plastic dispenser version, the Q-200, and a 3 plastic dispenser version, the Q-300, is also available. The Q-series features the well proven telescopic cut & hold in use on the 1400 & S-series bale wrapper’s. Customer and operator feedback was a strong driver in the develop- ment of the Q-series and lead to longer bale roller’s, proportional oil flow, indexed bale rotation, gear driven satellites and adjust- able width of the bale roller’s are other significant changes to the Q-series from the very popular and well proven 1540-EH which is still available for the 2020 season. Introduced in 2018 to take over from the 1400-EH and very popular amongst user’s looking for the highest round bale wrapping output achievable the 1400-V high output trailed round bale wrapper was also on display. The 1400-V is designed and built on the speed, reliabil- ity, ease of operation and high output experienced by operators of the 1400-EH. The unique to Tanco and patented split table of the 1400 series, which was designed to allow simultaneous wrapped bale unloading and next bale reloading, is retained on the 1400-V and enhanced with the addition of auto-loading. The 1400-V shares innovative features such as Tanco’s ultra-reliable tel- escopic cut & start’s, direct gear drive to the satellite arm’s and a variable proportional hydraulic system with the S-series linkage/ loader wrapper’s which Tanco will also had on display at the 2020 Rickerby show. The A-100 trailed turntable round bale wrappers and A-200 static wrapper have proven popular with Rickerby customer’s. The A-100 shares with the 1400-V the same innovative chassis concept of having the axle at the rear of the machine allowing transfer of weight to the tractor making the A-100 very stable on hill’s. Combined with large 31x15.5-15 tyre’s as standard the ability of the A-100 to travel very well on wet ground is enhanced. Other features of the A-100 shared with the 1400-V are autoload which was introduced for the 2018 season and the capability to unload on the move. The Autoload feature allows a second bale to be picked up and lifted clear of the ground whilst the 1st bale is being wrapped and when the 1st bale is wrapped unloaded, either in automatic or manual mode, the loading arm finishes it’s cycle loading the 2nd bale onto the turntable, then lowering to return to position ready to reload the 3rd bale while the wrapping cycle start’s wrapping the 2nd bale, all done automatically. The unload on the move can happen because due to the low position of the turntable, allowed by the move rearward’s of the axle, the need for an unload ramp to cushion the fall of the bale from the turntable to the ground is done away with. The rear of the turntable passes close to the ground giving a very gentle offload of the wrapped bale resulting in less bale roll on hill’s. The A-200 wrapper is the 3pt linkage static version of the A-series and shares the same lower centre of gravity design as the A-100E and a compact design which allows ease of access into narrow gateway’s and farmyard’s. A rubber mat is connected to the A-200 to protect the plastic on the bale when unloading from stones, etc, on the ground. The A-200 is remote controlled using a radio frequency remote control with a 50m range. This remote control can also be fitted to the 1400-V and A-100EH as an option.
