In the past 18 months we’ve pulled out several the older cows, selling to private buyers and other breeders, so that we can introduce our own younger replacements. Our trade in both selling pedigree stock and commercial bulls remains strong.’ ‘Last year we sold 14 pedigree bulls with four going to pedigree breeders and the rest to commercial men including three to dairy farms. Our reputation means we get a lot of repeat trade. Prior to him we would have paid no more than 3000 for any bull. We didn’t show him, but we showed his progeny. I had gone down with a bad illness that saw me in hospital for 19 weeks. The first heifer we showed was Midhope Malinda II at Lincolnshire Show in 2009 and she came second in her class. Fellow breeders David and Jayne Pick beat us that day but helped us afterwards. David is sadly no longer with us now and was a lovely man. He’d never
