The new Building means they have a herd of 450 which can now be milked three times a day producing on average Suspended floor systems Cattle slats & cubicle beds ‘The height of efficiency – and holidays too!’ 15,000 litres a day with each cow producing an annual yield of 11,600 litres. It is the height of efficiency as a team of five are working at any one time and they have two men who come in to do the night milking. Because Tom and John have such an efficient operation, this means they can both have one day off a week from their 5.30 am start and are also able to enjoy something most farmer’s find often impossible - holidays! Both Tom and John know and manage all sides of the business which means work never stops. Tom particularly enjoys the business side of the farm which is vital because farming gets more technical every day and quality is ever more important.
