As well as this, mix Mieliepak 25® with your seed with Mollyflo-T® for fertilizer enhancement.
4. SPACING
Sow the seed 25 mm deep in rows 1.0 m apart. For sweet corn, space the seeds 30 cm apart in the
row (30 – 33 000 plts/ha) and for baby corn, 20 cm apart (50 000 plts/ha).
A normal maize planter can be used – hand planting is not recommended because of the variation
in depth of planting.
5. FERTILIZATION
In the field, broadcast 350 kg/ha gypsum together with 60 kg/ha N, 110 kg/ha P2O5, 65 kg/ha
K2O and disk this in or else apply through the fertilizer box of the maize planter. For soils low in
phosphate broadcast an extra 150 kg/ha P2O5 and an extra 100 kg/ha for soils with a moderate
P2O5 rating. At knee high, top dress with an extra 50 – 75 kg/ha N.
Boron is very important so that the cobs fill out – at knee high spray 1 kg/ha Solubor in 300 l/ha
water.
