Celebrating the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County’ s Impact Through Grant Funding
In a world where funding can often feel out of reach, the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County( PFOHC) stands out as a beacon of hope for projects that uplift our community’ s natural spaces. By raising funds, they enhance the cultural, recreational, and natural resources of public parks in Hendricks County, inspiring a deeper connection to our environment. These projects not only enhance our parks and green spaces but also strengthen community ties, bringing people together in shared enjoyment of the outdoors.
RECENT PROJECTS SUPPORTED BY THE PFOHC
FISHING GEAR
The Hendricks County Parks and Recreation Department has successfully acquired new fishing gear and adaptive equipment, thanks to the generous support of Carol Wood and the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County through
the Robert A. Wood Environmental Education Fund. Their contribution has allowed us to purchase brand-new traditional fishing equipment, as well as adaptive fishing gear designed to make the sport accessible to everyone. Adaptive reels, rods, and accessories will be available for use during naturalist-led programming events, primarily at W. S. Gibbs Memorial Park.
SOUND GARDEN AT GIBBS
We’ re excited to share that a brandnew Sound Garden feature is coming to the nature playground at W. S. Gibbs Memorial Park! Thanks to the generous support from the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County through the Gary Emsweller Parks & Trails Grant Fund, this addition is sure to bring a lot of joy to our community. The Sound Garden will create a fun and interactive space where visitors of all ages and abilities can enjoy sensory and creative play. It’ s designed for those
who love hands-on, exploratory activities, so everyone can join in on the fun! We’ ve purchased some amazing sensory sound instruments, like drums, bells, and xylophones, from Recycled Supersonic, a UK-based company that makes these instruments from recycled materials. We can ' t wait for you to experience this new area and let your imagination run wild!
