After taking a few years off , the Fall Colors Run is back at McCloud Nature Park on October 22 ! Hosted by RaceMaker Productions , this event will feature a 5K and a 10K walk or run .

Did you know that an estimated 41 million Americans participate in fresh-water fishing ? Of those , more than 170,000 are Hoosiers who spend $ 66 million on fishingrelated purchases in Indiana . Nationwide , U . S . anglers contribute $ 125 billion to the economy and support over 800,000 jobs .
Seems like pretty good reasons to celebrate the fish with our McCloud Prairie Maze in 2022 !
Anglers can fish Big Walnut Creek in McCloud Nature Park , and fly fishing is quite popular there . Bring the family and cast a line while you ’ re surrounded by the brilliant fall foliage at McCloud ! Smallmouth bass , panfish , catfish , suckers , and carp are generally what are caught in Big Walnut Creek .
Last fall , the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Fish and Wildlife stocked the two ponds at W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park with thousands of bass , bluegill , and redear fingerlings , along with young channel catfish . We anticipate that the fish will have grown to a harvestable size by the spring or summer of 2023 !
When the fish are large enough , W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park will become a rare spot within Hendricks County to fish for free and to keep what you catch . Of course , DNR conservation officers will enforce all Indiana laws involving fishing , including required licenses , bag limits , and size limits at the park . We will also be bringing fishing programming and derbies to Gibbs once the fish are large enough .
Celebrate fish and angling with a trip through our fish-themed prairie maze . Be sure to dress for the weather , wear comfortable closed-toe shoes , and bring some water . Bring the fingerlings , too , as this maze is appropriate for all ages !
Make sure to explore the McCloud Prairie Maze by October 31 and then enjoy some autumn fishing in Big Walnut Creek afterwards !
Admission to McCloud Nature Park and the prairie maze is absolutely FREE , and both are open from dawn to dusk daily . To access the prairie maze , park in the Nature Center parking lot . Maps to the maze are available in the kiosk outside of the Nature Center , as well as in the kiosk at the entrance to the maze and at HendricksCountyParks . org .
