Fitness in the Park Saturday , Sept . 3 • 8:30 a . m . W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park , Bluegill Shelter
Try a different fitness class on the first Saturday of each month ! We ’ re bringing fitness instructors in from a wide variety of programs to give you a FREE one-hour introduction to their area of fitness expertise – all while you enjoy the natural beauty of W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park ! As each month approaches , visit HendricksCountyParks . org and our Facebook page to find out who ’ s leading Fitness in the Park that month and the details of the fitness program being presented . Registration is recommended to notify participants of any weather cancellations .

Astronomy Saturday , Sept . 10 • 8 p . m . McCloud Nature Park
Take stargazing to new heights by escaping the light pollution of the city and heading to McCloud Nature Park , where thousands of stars twinkle like jewels in the dark night sky !
The Indiana Astronomical Society partners with Park Naturalists to hold this sky seminar and viewing . These programs , led by expert sky watchers , are geared for the novice astronomer . This program will begin with a brief informational session (“ sky seminar ”) where you will learn which planets and constellations will be visible that night .
These seminars last about 30 minutes and are best suited for ages 8 through adult .
IMPORTANT NOTE : Sky seminars will take place rain or shine , but sky viewings are dependent upon clear skies . If poor weather is forecasted or any severe weather advisories are issued , the skyviewing portion of the program will be canceled .

The 19th Century Archaeological Record of Gibbs Park Saturday , Sept . 10 • 2 p . m . W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park , Bluegill Shelter
Discover how 19th century economic and manufacturing shifts can be seen in the archaeological record at W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park . Join archaeologists Isabelle Ortt and John Flood from Cardno ( now Stantec ) as they discuss the results of a recent archaeological investigation on park property . Learn about the 19th century Petty family , who were the first individuals to reside on the land where today ’ s park is located .

Painting in the Park Thursday , Sept . 15 5:30 p . m . W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park , Bluegill Shelter
Enjoy a relaxing evening at the park while painting a piece of fall art . This pumpkin board art is a perfect complement to any autumn decor . Anyone can be confident to walk away with a beautiful piece of art by following the directions of instructor Sherri Weir . All supplies are provided . This is an outdoor class so dress for the weather !
