What are the 10 Most Popular Cannabis Concentrates in Missouri, and How Do You Consume Them? by Leah Maurer, contributing writer

Missouri’ s legal cannabis market continues to grow, and dispensary shelves are filling with an impressive selection of cannabis concentrates. Concentrates can provide stronger effects, enhanced flavor, and a faster onset than traditional flower.

Unlike dried cannabis flower, concentrates isolate the plant’ s cannabinoids and terpenes, creating products that often contain THC levels ranging from 60 % to over 90 %. Because of their potency, concentrates are generally best suited for experienced consumers or for newbies willing to start with very small amounts.
However, not all cannabis concentrates are the same. Extraction methods, terpene preservation, cannabinoid content, and overall product quality all contribute to the final experience. The extraction process also plays a major role. Some products use hydrocarbon solvents, such as butane or propane, while others rely on solventless methods, like heat and pressure. Neither approach is inherently better. Many consumers appreciate solventless concentrates for their simplicity, while others prefer solvent-based extracts for their ability to preserve complex terpene profiles.
Popular Concentrates
Crumble Badder Rosin Shatter
While there are as many as 30 concentrates, the following are the 10 most commonly found on dispensary shelves in Missouri.
Wax
Wax is one of the most recognizable cannabis concentrates thanks to its soft, creamy texture. During production, cannabis extract is whipped while purging solvents, creating an opaque concentrate that’ s easy to handle. Wax offers excellent potency while retaining many of the plant’ s natural terpenes, making it a favorite for daily concentrate users.
Budder
Shatter
Budder shares similarities with wax but has an even smoother, whipped consistency resembling softened butter. The whipping process helps preserve aromatic terpenes while creating an easy-to-handle concentrate. Budder is particularly popular among concentrate enthusiasts who prioritize flavor alongside potency.
Shatter gets its name from its hard, glasslike appearance. Unlike wax or budder, shatter is left undisturbed during processing, allowing it to cool into translucent sheets that literally shatter when broken. Known for its purity and high THC content, shatter delivers powerful effects with relatively little material.
Rick Simpson Oil( RSO)
Rick Simpson Oil, commonly called RSO, is very different from other concentrates because it is not intended for dabbing or vaping. Traditionally extracted with ethanol, RSO is a thick, dark oil prized by many medical cannabis patients seeking full-spectrum cannabinoid content. Many medical marijuana patients use RSO because it contains a broad range of cannabinoids, terpenes, and plant compounds. Because RSO is extremely potent, beginners should start with very small doses and increase gradually.
THCA Diamonds
THCA diamonds are among the strongest concentrates available. These crystal-like formations consist almost entirely of tetrahydrocannabinolic acid( THCA), which converts into psychoactive THC when heated. Many products combine diamonds with terpene-rich sauce to improve flavor while maintaining exceptional potency.
Terp Sauce( Diamonds and Sauce)
Terp sauce is famous for its incredibly rich aroma. Rather than focusing solely on THC, this concentrate preserves large amounts of flavorful terpenes, resulting in an intensely aromatic, syrup-like extract. Many Missouri dispensaries sell diamonds suspended in terp sauce, providing both potency and exceptional flavor.
