Weed and Work Ethic
A Star Athlete , and Graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics , and a Minor in Physics tells his story .

Does cannabis affect your work ethic ? Hell , yes , it does ! But NOT in the negative connotation of the classic war on drugs stigma in the PSA where your brain is the egg in the skillet frying on drugs . For many , cannabis can be the sole driving force to the highest levels of work ethic known to man .
We ’ ve done many profile pieces in past issues of The EVOLUTION Magazine on people who work in the cannabis industry that are perfect examples of this , and the hustle can also be found on the ancillary side of the cannabis industry .
Meet Brandon Jones . If you ’ ve been to more than one cannabis event in the Midwest , then there is a good chance that you have seen him . I had seen him a myriad of times before , and recently , I had the opportunity to hear his story over a game of golf at a tournament — just to be clear , a game of dropping my ball next to his perfect shots and hearing his story in leu of hunting for my last shot .
On the outside , Jones is a boisterous jokester of positivity while smoking back-to-back blunts filled with his own home-grown flower . I never knew he was an athlete until that day of golf , but when he told me he played baseball as a star pitcher and catcher in high school , later in college on scholarship , and even currently in a local men ’ s league as a catcher , that ’ s when everything made sense about his personality .
“ I ’ m that catcher that ’ s always talking shit the whole time , trying to make everyone laugh ,” Jones lightheartedly explained . His teammates even agree that it ’ s just not the same game when he is not around because of the positive energy he brings to the baseball field . It takes a lot of wisdom and smarts to be more than simply a wisecracker or smart aleck . The type of smarts that get you math and baseball scholarships to Baker University . The kind of smarts that a Baker graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a minor in Physics would possess .

The journey wasn ’ t easy , though , as sometimes everything can change in an instant . The summer before Jones attended his first year in college , he was in a horrific car accident where a delivery truck t-boned the driver ’ s side of his Ford Probe , requiring the jaws of life to get him out and rushed to emergency surgery to save his sense of sight . “ The side window exploded and flew into my face . I had over 155 stitches in my face and had significant brain trauma . I would say almost everything changed in an instant ,” Jones recalled .
Although his baseball scholarship was still honored , Jones ’ long road of recovery would only get more challenging . On top of entering his
