What We Tell Our Students
Recent efforts have been undertaken to review the degree to which kudos and flags are raised in an equitable manner . The data below indicates the ratio of kudos and flags raised for each subgroup of the NWTC student body in Spring 2021 . The desire to provide more encouraging messaging has sparked efforts to reimagine kudo verbiage to focus less on current grade status and more on reinforcing positive contributing behaviors like effort and attendance .
What Our Data Tells Us About the Future
Starfish employs a predictive analytics modeling functionality that combines demographic , programmatic , and academic insights from over a decade of previous NWTC . This predictive retention score is the likelihood a student will be retained 12 months from the present . The data below displays substantial population differences in average retention scores , providing further context to discussions about both the inequities of past outcomes and the most urgent areas for present action to create a more equitable future .
