NEXCEL ENGINE OIL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

First previewed at the Geneva Show in 2017, Castrol’ s revolutionary Nexcel‘ plug and play’ engine oil management system for use in production vehicles was created to optimise the volume of oil in the engine’ s sump for every driving condition and thus help reduce tailpipe CO 2 emissions by allowing engines to warm-up faster. The Nexcel oil cell also helps protect the environment by better capturing used oil during oil changes.
Nexcel is a removable, selfcontained, sealed oil cell that will include bespoke engine oil and filter for each ehicle, enabling a fast and efficient oil and filter change without the need for any tools, lifts, or specialist equipment. Designed for exible installation anywhere in the engine bay via a docking station, the system is managed by a dedicated
electronic control unit in the dock that communicates wirelessly with the oil cell. An electric pump controls the fill, topup and eacuation of oil between the engine sump and the remote oil cell.
Designed to take around 90 seconds, a Nexcel oil cell change can be accomplished from the top of the engine bay, without a garage lift, without any mess or waste oil to dispose of. The cell, containing the old oil, can then be returned for re-use. It takes around 84 litres of crude oil to make one gallon of lubricant, but the same volume of recovered oil can be rerefined to create around 6 litres of lubricating oil at its original specification
In addition to the fast and efficient oil change the benefits of Nexcel include a potential cost-effective
CO 2 emissions reduction of 2 g / km, as a result of the improved thermal management and the hardware technology, the opportunity to create a circular ecosystem for the reuse of used engine oil and a reduction of single-use plastics.
Aston artin was the first ehicle manufacturer to adopt the Nexcel technology, specifying the system for the 820 hp 7.0-litre V12-engined Aston Martin Vulcan track-based hypercar and Nexcel is currently in discussion with several major global vehicle manufacturers, as well as users of small engine applications like motorised lawn mowers, who value the system’ s contribution to emissions reduction, hybrid packaging improvement, serice simplification and wholelife environmental sustainability. www. nexcel. co. uk

WEBCON 70 MM DIAMETER MESH AIR FILTERS

To complement its recently reintroduced 56 mm and 63 mm mesh air filters, Webcon has announced that a 70 mm ersion is also now available.
anufactured in the , the 70 mm filter features the same three-layer mesh technology as proven on the preiously introduced mesh filters and is suitable for use with Weber 48 DCO / SP and 48 IDA carburettors, as well as other 70 mm O. D. air horns.
AF870 mesh filters retail at 355 plus VA per pair imple to fit, they offer excellent filtration with the minimum of restriction, and are especially useful on 48 IDA downdraught carburettors to prevent the ingress of debris when the car is being worked on or stored.
