APRA EUROPE
A
PRA Europe( Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association Europe) is the leading industry body representing the automotive remanufacturing sector across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Founded in 1941 as the regional division of the global APRA organization, it operates as a non-profit platform connecting stakeholders across the remanufacturing value chain.
Based in Brussels, APRA Europe represents approximately 150 members in Europe alone( global APRA membership is around 500), including tier-one suppliers, independent remanufacturers, core dealers, distributors and research institutions. Collectively, the association represents roughly two-thirds of the workforce in the European automotive remanufacturing industry, demonstrating its strong footprint and influence.
APRA Europe promotes remanufacturing as a key enabler of the circular economy. By restoring used components to asnew condition, the process conserves resources, reduces energy consumption and CO₂ emissions, and offers cost-efficient alternatives for the aftermarket without compromising quality or performance.
Beyond advocacy, APRA Europe supports its members through knowledge exchange, regulatory guidance and networking opportunities. Conferences, industry events and cooperation with partner associations help connect supply and demand while facilitating the exchange of technical expertise and best practices. It also represents the interests of the sector at the European policy level, advocating for free trade, a level playing field in the independent aftermarket and a stable legal framework.
A key technical platform within the association is the Engine

Remanufacturing Working Group, which brings together leading experts in engine remanufacturing. Members include national associations and industry representatives from the UK, Germany, Italy, Canada and South Africa. The group is chaired by Michele De Stefano and serves as a forum for addressing technological challenges, harmonizing standards and sharing best practices across markets.
Through initiatives like this, APRA Europe strengthens its mission to connect, support and defend the remanufacturing industry in a rapidly evolving automotive landscape. With the establishment of a new collaboration with The Engine Rebuilder, APRA Europe looks forward to intensifying knowledge exchange within the global engine remanufacturing community and contributing to future technical dialogue in this specialized field.
