In testing, Valvoline’ s Restore & Protect removed‘ up to 100 %’ of piston deposits after four consecutive oil changes at standard maintenance intervals. It has impressed users, too, and was granted the 2025 Product of the Year USA Award in the car care category.

n At a glance, this may look like a simple valve spring compressor. But Summit Racing Pro’ s billet version is packed with just about every feature you could ever expect in a valve spring compressor. It has a large jaw capacity to reach around big cylinder heads, yet has been designed to reduce flex so it’ s compatible with strong performance valve springs.
Its rotating handles have two levers at each end, a long one for leverage and a short one for speed. A knurled locking collar allows for even swifter set-up times, too. Its spring cage, which is modular and can be swapped for specialist versions, is mounted on a bearing to reduce friction when clamping. On the other end that touches the valve is a nonmarring puck. It also has a grip protector and bevelled edges to reduce damage to the user or the head you’ re working on.

n Toyota’ s JZ family of inline six-cylinder engines is legendary, the 3-litre 2JZ especially. While the 2.5-litre 1 JZ is overshadowed by its big brother, there’ s still a large fanbase for the smaller motor. Australian manufacturer of highend performance parts, Plazmaman, has capitalised on this enthusiasm and has created a cast stainless steel exhaust manifold for the single-turbo VVTi 1JZ. The new manifold uses a mating face compatible with the standard turbocharger and, the factory heatshield and hardware. Simply, it can be used as a direct replacement for the original Toyota part.
