TEAM LOTUSBITS
Not content with the busy schedule of running his own thriving business and managing the whole industrial estate, Mike Taylor and his partner Cathy Sewart are also regular competitors in the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship. They campaign their Lotus engined Talbot Sunbeams in Class C and Class D1, usuall with great success, as testified b the bulging trophy cabinet in the Lotusbits reception room.
Not only is it a great way to let off steam and indulge their competitive spirits, but it’ s also the perfect proving ground for the Lotusbits engine
upgrades, with each and every new conversion having been extensively tested and proven in this highly demanding branch of motorsport.
As well as the two Lotus Sunbeams, Mike previously had great success with a rear-wheel drie Nissan Micra, powered b a modified otus 912 engine stroked to 2498cc, fuel injected with Jenvey twin 48 throttle bodies, giving over 270 hp at 8000 rpm. With a hybrid drivetrain comprising Lotus Excel / Toyota W57 5-speed syncro box and a TRD adjustable limited-slip diff, it was very successful until 2012 when it fell foul of the new rally technical regulations.
