Los Angeles, California (August 11, 2019) --Understanding mental health is an important part of Kappa Delta Chi sisterhood. Kappa Delta Chi is committed to the mental health and wellness of its members and supports the destigmatization of the conversations surrounding mental health. We recognize members’ interest in accessing services, as well as a need to provide our members with resources and programming. In order to meet the needs of the sisterhood, a Mental Health & Wellness Initiative was formed in 2017 to destigmatize mental health, raise awareness, provide education and programming, and increase sensitivity through creating a safe space for our sisters. The Initiative evolved into a committee comprised of alumnae and undergraduate members who were passionate about mental health and wellness education and advocacy. They were tasked with identifying specific programming and resources for the membership. This led to the creation of a National Mental Health and Wellness Resource Guide, and the selection of the “Behind Happy Faces” mental health curriculum developed by Ross Szabo. Ross is the CEO of Human Power Project, a CLICK company that creates mental health curriculum as well as an award-winning HERE speaker and author. “Behind Happy Faces” takes a public health approach to help Contact Information: Connie Ann Tucker Mental Health and Wellness Committee [email protected] members learn skills to address their mental health. 13
