Manon Lescaut The Marriage of Figaro The Barber of Seville Der Freischutz JOSEPH DODD RACHEL WOOD Joseph has just completed his Classics degree at UCL, and holds an offer to continue there to do a MA in the Reception of the Classical World, where he hopes to continue his research into the use and manipulation of classical sources by opera composers and librettists. When not confined to the library, Joseph has been very involved in the musical life of the College, and worked as the Producer for this year’s University College Opera production of Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snowmaiden, both the world première of this translation, and the British première of the complete opera. Previously, he has sung the part of Acciano in Verdi’s I Lombardi, and of IInd Coryphée in Rameau’s Acante et Céphise, as well as singing in the chorus for Rousseau’s Le Devin du Village (all with UCO). In 2012/13, he worked as UCL Union Music Society’s Treasurer. Joseph’s concert repertoire includes Dvořák’s Te Deum, J.S. Bach’s Cantata 116 and Handel’s Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne. In his native Suffolk, he performs in recitals and charity concerts, singing material from Handel and Mozart to Quilter and Dring. Joseph is taught by Christopher Foster. Rachel Wood has just finished studying on the Associated Studios Opera course, and has been training with her teacher Jane Highfield GSMD for four years. Recent engagements (2013-14) include playing the title role in La Calisto with Hampstead Garden Opera (directed by Joe Austin), Patience in Patience (directed by Stuart Barker) at the Buxton Opera House in the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, Belinda/2nd Woman for Opera Alumnus’ 2014 February tour of Dido and Aeneus, Titania/Spirit for Barefoot Opera’s tour of The Fairy Queen and Dido and Aeneus (directed by Jenny Miller) Asteria in Handel’s Tamerlano (directed by Sally Burgess), and Musetta in Puccini’s La Boheme (directed by Chris Cowell) for Associated Studios Opera (conducted by Jeremy Silver).
