ALISTAIR SUTHERLAND PHILLIPPA SCAMMELL DULCAMARA Alistair Sutherland is a baritone living and working in London. He has completed the MA vocal studies course at the Royal Academy of Music under Alex Ashworth. He has worked extensively with the company OperaUpClose regularly performing Schaunard in their awarwinning production of La boheme, and Dulcamara in their critically acclaimed L’elisir d’amore. He has also created the roles Falke Die Fledermaus, Angelotti Tosca, Dandini Cinderella and Vulk Two Caravans. He began with the Opera Holland Park chorus in 2010 where he was selected as a 2012 Christine Collins Young Artist, performing Pinellino Gianni Schicchi. He continues to work with the company performing small roles and covers, recently performing An Officer in their production of Il barbiere di Siviglia. Alistair works with the group Freathy Tippet, as an associate artist, devising and performing new works. He receives coaching from company director Julie Osman. As a recitalist Alistair works regularly with Horacio López Redondo performing a variety of repertoire from Tchaikovsky to Peter Dickinson. Future plans include performances of Figaro The Marriage of Figaro with OperaUpClose and the reprisal of several roles for OUC as they tour regional theatres across the UK. www.alistairsutherland.com GIANNETTA From Berkshire, soprano Phillippa graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2012 with a First Class Honours degree, studying under Suzanne Murphy. Prizes and awards include the BMus Second Year Prize, the Dolan Evans Prize, The Joy Day Cup and the Robina Dallmeyer Award. Operatic roles include: Arianwen, Ynys Gwydr: Island of Glass, Damon, Acis and Galatea, Sara (cover), The Sleeper, Barbarina, The Marriage of Figaro, Second Boy, The Magic Flute and Second Woman, Dido and Aeneas. Solo oratorio performances include Haydn’s Creation and Maria Theresa Mass, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Messiah and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle. In the 2013 Three Choirs Festival, Phillippa sang a solo in Verdi’s Te Deum under the baton of Edward Gardner – she returns to the Festival this year as semi-chorus for the world premiere of Rasch’s A Foreign Field. Other upcoming engagements include the soprano solos in Haydn’s Nelson Mass in the 2015 Windsor Spring Festival. In addition to freelance performance, Phillippa teaches singing for Berkshire Maestros and the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain. She has accepted the offer of a place on the Masters Performance course at the Royal Academy of Music, where she looks forward to continuing her training in September 2014. www.phillippascammell.co.uk WINTERBOURNE OPERA This is Winterbourne Opera’s fIfthteen production and our second in the Cattle Ring. Opera in the Barn at the Grange began in 2000 when singers performed with the orchestra of the Teenage Classical Players.
