If you are worried about the way your children are being raised in a world bent on ‘winners & losers’ battling for political and moral superiority then you may want to find Beppie’s album, “There’s a Song Inside Me.” Even if you don’t have kids you may want this collection of 12 uniquely positive kids’ songs. Beppie’s 2017 full length album, ‘There’s a Song Inside of Me’ opens with a message of inclusion, a message sorely missing from the landscape of the world’s politics in 2019. There are no losers contained within – not even the possibility of loss. There is joy here and a healthy dose of instruction on being silly, open to new ideas and above all else – a happy human being.

At the albums opening, listeners are treated to a greeting in song by Beppie herself. Any parent who had a TV or radio growing up will recall the emotional impact on a child who hears their own name spoken by their entertainers. New generations deserve the same thrill and it is contained within the aptly titled, ‘Hello Song’. The Hello song also serves as a great warm up of what’s to come. Individual names are called out and later a message of inclusion rings out, “Let’s Sing Hello to Everyone”. Again, this is simple but perfect once the listener accepts their inner child back into their heart. We all start from a place of love and inclusion. Beppie just never stopped apparently.

After the gentle four string ukulele chords of the opening’s greeting, the album begins to rock on track two’s, ‘Gotta Know the Time’. A full arrangement of instruments are thrown into the mix to great effect. The suggested swing tone of the song, coupled with a compliment of horns will really get the kids moving, perhaps the parents too. There’s even an inspired break where Beppie scats. Children are sure to emulate those funky jazz bebops after listening…or at least, I was.

The next song up, as if to make an even deeper nod to the parents who came of age in the time of grunge, ‘Five Little Monkeys’ incorporates a bit of a distorted sound and a stripped down band. The results are both wondrous and hilarious . Had I learned to count to ‘Five Little Monkeys’ I may have even paid attention to my teachers in math class instead of having pizzas delivered and added detention hours.
