This month was a big month for the local artists. A lot of them participated in the Night of the Artists (NOA), an annual pop up art event where artists can exhibit their works and network with supporters like you. One of the many faces we encountered at the NOA was Jani Galarneau, a wonderful artist who I had the pleasure of working with back in early 2017. Galarneau was also just starting to dabble into making something out of her artistic skills. After a very powered and demanding career, she wanted to focus on her art work and had decided to do an artist residency at the Gallery. It was always interesting to see what she was up to.
If there is one thing I can say about Jani is that she loves to work with mix media and will make art out anything she can get her hands on. Her positive energy and enthusiasm for mix media is always inspiring. I have seen Jani turn an old wooden chair into an angle and maps into octopus paintings. It was a pleasure working with her back then, so I thought it would be great to hear from Jani and share her recent experience with the Muse readers.
Currently Jani's mixed media journey is exploring working with garbage from the ocean. A subject that touches her heart.
