President reading the inscription. SALEM - On Saturday September 12 the Salem Fire Department presented a plaque to Chris Barrett for his brave actions on May 23, 2015. The plaque reads "ABOVE AND BEYOND presented to CHRISTOPHER BARRETT In recognition for his unselfish act of bravery on Saturday May 23, 2015. Christopher Barrett discovered a home engulfed in flames, entered the home, awakened the occupants and led them to safety. This heroic act saved their lives.
