After what seemed like hours, the carriage screeched to a halt. The doors were opened, revealing a muddy courtyard. Heavy rain fell from a dark sky. They were herded out of the carriages and told to form lines. The soldiers were everywhere, shouting in a foreign language he recognized as German. They were dressed in brown uniforms, with red armbands, and each and every one of them had a gun slung over their shoulder. After everyone was lined up and counted, they began marching towards a huge gate, and the rain began to lessen. He could no longer see Yoel and Saul after the soldiers separated them. Eliyahu caught the searing smell of smoke, and something else… Something worse . They followed the soldiers into a low built, dark house where they were ordered to grab supplies. Luckily, Eliyahu was at the front, which meant he managed to get hold of a sleeping bag and what looked like a toothbrush. They were lead into a dark room. The first thing Eliyahu noticed was the stench. It was a sour, rotting smell, making it hard to breath. After a few seconds the eyes to adjust to the darkness, revealing dark shapes.
