First and most importantly , it helps children with reasoning and fine motor skills . Developing these skills at a young age can do wonders for their growth and development . Second , and more for Dad , these are the only hobbies of mine that I can share with my children that they seem to enjoy . None of my children enjoy golf , so my time is limited to when I can attend the course . The novelty of golf cart rides only lasts so long on nine-year-olds . The other option , and my great passion , is wrestling . The kids love it . However , their mother cannot stand it . I argue that its performative nature holds profound truths about American life , culture , and politics . Unfortunately , these arguments have held little weight since the folding chair became a weapon of choice in the industry . In conclusion , I hope you take some of your free time to delve deeper into your favorite hobbies and find a new reason to love them . �

In May 2024 , 50 of our own Sarasota County Bar Association members will travel to Washington , D . C ., to be sworn into the highest court in this country and spend a weekend exploring Washington , D . C . and all that it has to offer .
The morning of the ceremony , SCBA members will meet on the steps of the United States Supreme Court , capture photos , and wait to be escorted to a private lounge usually reserved only for members of the bar of the U . S . Supreme Court . From there , we will be greeted and guided to the seats at the front of the courtroom where YLD Past President Erin Christy will present our group of candidates for membership to the bar of the U . S . Supreme Court . We might even be lucky enough to meet one of the Justices following the ceremony .
Later that evening , admittees and their families will attend a Congratulatory Reception while reliving that memorable morning and getting to know other members of the Sarasota County Bar Association . That weekend , guests will be free to explore Washington , D . C ., but not without a little help from our own D . C . natives who have prepared an insider ’ s guide for the top things to do , places to eat , and sights to see . This will surely be a trip you don ’ t want to miss !
