A Year of Service,
Connection and Gratitude
by Bryan Kessler, Esq. Berg, Brewer, Kessler &
Mowry, PLLC
As I prepare to hand the gavel to our next leader, Sara Castro, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey of the past year serving as your President. It has been an extraordinary privilege to lead this esteemed organization, and I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to serve. Our calendar was packed this year, and the significant participation reflected the dedication and energy of our members.
Throughout the year, our programs remained exceptional in both quality and variety. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our committee and section chairs, we provided timely, practical, and relevant education for our members. Whether it was case law updates, panel discussions, or ethics presentations, our program offerings kept members informed, engaged, and better prepared to serve their clients.
One of the highlights of this year was our continued emphasis on professional development and inclusion. Our Council for Diversity and Inclusion hosted thought-provoking events and initiatives that challenged us to grow, listen, and lead with intention. These conversations are not always easy, but they are essential, and I am proud of the steps we have taken to make our association more inclusive and welcoming to all.
We also prioritized collegiality and having fun throughout the year, which culminated with our family day event at the North Port Aquatic Center. In a profession that can often feel isolating, especially in difficult times, these events were invaluable to our members. Thank you to all who participated.
I would be remiss if I did not express my heartfelt thanks to the remarkable people who made this year so successful.
To the SCBA Board of Directors: thank you for your steady leadership, your wisdom, and your unwavering support. Each of you brought a unique perspective and dedication to our work, and it has been a privilege to serve alongside you. Your commitment to the SCBA’ s mission is evident in everything you do, and I am grateful for your partnership.
To our committee chairs and section chairs: you are the engine of this organization. You planned events, organized programming, built connections, and ensured that the needs of our members were met. Your passion, initiative, and follow-through made all the difference. Thank you for your enthusiasm and leadership— you are the reason our programs continue to grow and thrive.
To our Executive Director, Holly Lipps: You are the backbone of this association. Your professionalism, attention to detail, and tireless work behind the scenes kept everything running smoothly. From managing logistics to communicating with members to ensuring our events were seamless, your contribution cannot be overstated. Thank you for your constant support and dedication.
Serving as President of the Sarasota County Bar Association has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life. It gave me the opportunity to give back to a profession that has given so much to me. It allowed me to collaborate with an incredible group of legal professionals, to advocate for positive change, and to contribute to the continued success of our legal community.
But most importantly, this role has deepened my appreciation for the people who make up this organization. The warmth, generosity, and professionalism of our members have left a lasting impression on me.
