LAUNCH OF NEW PILOT PROGRAM

SkylawSRQ

SkylawSRQ is an online pilot program developed by the Sarasota County Library Board to give the public access to legal advice in short-term civil cases at minimal expense.
For the initial launch of SkylawSRQ, attorneys are invited to provide advice in five areas of Law: Civil Litigation, Corporate & Business Law, Estate Planning & Guardianships, Family Law, and Property Law.
The program provides one-hour virtual consultations at a flat rate of $ 125, which goes directly to the attorney. Client appointments are made through the website at SkylawSRQ. com, which is tentatively scheduled to open to the public in October.
Attorneys can register now to participate in as many areas of law as they are proficient, and provide availability for October and beyond. Attorneys are asked to commit to at least two 1-hour time slots every month and if possible, give recurring monthly slots. Participating lawyers may also choose to be on the“ standby” list to be contacted when a client cannot find a suitable appointment on the website calendar.
The Sarasota County Law Library Librarian will manage the program including facilitating lawyer-client communication, maintaining a registry of participating attorneys, monitoring calendars, and coordinating with the web developer on online appointments and website updates.
Once the website opens to the public( ETA October), clients will select a pertinent area of law for their case and choose an appointment from the corresponding calendar. The librarian will provide the attorney with client information to complete conflict checks, receive payment, and send meeting details. Consultations are not confirmed until payment is received.
Currently, SCBA attorneys are being asked to register as part of a soft launch. Questions can be sent to info @ skylawsrq. com.
