FAMILY LAW SECTION

Tips for Reclaiming

Work-Life Balance

It has been my observation that after the initial sabbatical that accompanied the lockdown in March 2020 , family law practitioners were among the first to make the transition into the virtual practice of law . With that came the inevitable breakdown of the already tentative barriers that comprised the work-life balance , as our homes became offices , our much-protected cell phone numbers became common currency , and everyone ’ s expectations of immediate and ‘ round-the-clock ’ availability became the norm . To add insult to injury , the acrimony and downright nastiness always percolating under the surface of family law cases seems to have erupted . Unlike some lawyers who enjoyed a degree of a hiatus from the regular practice grind , those of us in the family law arena never really got a break . While some attorneys report that they are getting back into the swing of things , family lawyers never left the playground .

I don ’ t know about you , but I think there is something special about enjoying a much-anticipated movie in the theater with a box
of overpriced popcorn and a cold soda next to me . And it looks like Hollywood is on the same page , with a plethora of movies being released that are sure to delight . Also being released is a host of family movies from which to choose , including the new J . K . Rowling creation , Fantastic Beasts : The Secrets of Dumbledore , Jurassic World Dominion , Lightyear , and Minions : The Rise of Gru , to name a few . For those looking for a good laugh , Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock join an all-star cast in a caper-esque romantic comedy , The Lost City , about kidnapping billionaires , a hunt for lost treasure , and ( presumably ) a rescue-turned-happily-ever-after ending . If you are looking for some action , not to mention some impossibly attractive mega stars , there are some options sure to delight , such as Mission : Impossible 7 , coming out in late September , Top Gun : Maverick , and Blank Panther : Wakanda Forever . I have no doubt that there are several brilliant and thought-provoking movies also in the lineup for 2022 , so if that is what tickles your fancy , I encourage you to check them out .
If movies aren ’ t your thing , I ’ m excited to share that the alwayscreative event planners in Sarasota have been busy , and there are some fantastic events on the horizon in the coming months . I ’ m always a fan of the International Chalk Festival , which is the first
