5. Did someone say sale? Who doesn’ t love a great sale, especially at the market? Time to grab your freezer bags, your mason jars, your cutting board and store, store, store! Stock up and put that deep freezer and extra cabinet space to good use. If you are new to canning, there are several wonderful articles for beginners that can help!
6. Grow your own. You don’ t need an acre of land to grow herbs or produce. Start with your windowsill or a small area in your backyard. You can easily grow herbs like basil, parsley, mint, chives, oregano, rosemary, thyme, sage and my favorite cilantro. Depending on your space, you can also grow lettuce, spinach, kale, arugula, tomatoes, garlic, bell peppers, radishes, scallions, peas, strawberries, cucumbers, potatoes and beets.
7. Pre-plan your meals. Now that you’ re armed with your staples you purchased in bulk, your homegrown herbs and seasonal food items, it’ s time to plan your menu. Look up a few new recipes or get creative and whip up something special. Pre planning your meals and snacks will assist you in staying on your newfound track. I also love knowing I am providing my body with the best possible options when it comes to vitamins and nutrients. Talk about empowering!
8. Let nothing go to waste. The weekend is a great time to take account of what remains in your refrigerator. Take your vegetables that may have lost their initial crispness and create a vegetable soup. Kick it up a notch by adding chicken or whatever meat remains to create a stew. Take your fruits that are now a little softer than they were in the beginning of the week, and create a puree to pour over your plain, natural, sugarfree Greek yogurt( that you purchased on sale … winning!) Who said healthy eating has to be costly or boring, not me Sis and not you either.
Now that you know what to do, all that’ s left is application and dedication. You got this and your virtual sisters at the DivaZone are here for you every step of the way!
