performed more than 6,000 adult solid organ transplants. TGH is a nationally certified comprehensive stroke center. Other outstanding centers include internal medicine, cardiovascular, orthopedics, high risk and normal obstetrics, urology, ENT, endocrinology, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, the Thyroid Cancer & Parathyroid Institute and the Children’s Medical Center including the Jennifer Leigh Muma Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. TGH is the primary teaching hospital for the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. In 2016, TGH provided $123,116,841 worth of benefit to our community through charity care, subsidized health services, financial and in-kind contributions to local charities, health professions education, research and community health improvement. TGH was recently recognized at the #1 Hospital in the Tampa Bay Metro Area and #2 Hospital in the state of Florida for 2017- 18 by U.S. News & World Report. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Tampa General Hospital supports the community it serves by providing programs to improve the health of its residents offering free health education programs and screenings throughout the year. EDUCATION TGH is affiliated with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and serves as the primary teaching hospital for the university. Over 300 residents are assigned to TGH for specialty training in areas ranging from general internal medicine to neurosurgery. In addition, USF medical students, nurses and physical therapy students receive part of their training at TGH. Faculty from the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine admit and care for patients at TGH as do community physicians, many of whom also serve as adjunct clinical faculty. TGH also serves as a teaching hospital to students in many disciplines from several area schools. SIGNATURE FUNDRAISING EVENTS The TGH Foundation hosts three signature events that raise funds for our programs and services and an Annual Dinner, all which serve as an opportunity for our guests to network and connect with other Tampa area business leaders and supporters: The TGH Foundation has partnered with FELD Entertainment to provide a night of fun for all ages. A Night at Disney On Ice will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Amalie Arena and proceeds benefit the TGH Children’s Medical Center. The 21st Annual Gala, "Alice in Wonderland: Mad about TGH!," will be held on May 12, 2018 at the Tampa Marriott Waterside. After party event is also offered with the goal of engaging Tampa Bay’s Young Professionals. Funds raised will benefit the TGH Children’s Medical Center and the Foundation’s Fund for the Future. The 44th TGH Foundation Annual Dinner will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club.
