If your career takes you into management it is important to go into it with a better understanding of the common language. Office talk is different than shop talk so we thought it would benefit you to learn some of our comical lingo.

BLAMESTORMING: Sitting in a group, discussing why a deadline was missed or a project failed, and pointing fingers who was responsible.

HTM TOURISTS: Healthcare Technology Management folks who go to AAMI conferences or medical device training classes just to get a vacation from their jobs. "We had three serious students in the class; the rest were just HTM tourists."

SEAGULL MANAGER: A manager who flies in, makes some noise, criticizes everything, and then goes.

CHAINSAW CONSULTANT: An outside expert brought in to reduce the employee headcount, leaving the top brass with clean hands.

CUBE FARM: An office filled with cubicles. Windows are optional!

IDEA HAMSTERS: People who always have their idea generators up and running.

PRAIRIE DOGGING: When someone yells loudly or drops something in a cube farm, and people's heads pop up over the walls to see what's going on.
