How will I get my email starting July 3?

You will be able to access your new Outlook Web App (OWA) email from the same link where Lotus Notes was.

What is My Username and Password?

Your username and password will be the same as your BPS computer (Active Directory) login credentials. It will be much easier to remember with one login for both systems.

What will happen to my contacts, emails, calendars and folders?

Everything will be migrated in the new OWA system. The only exceptions are emails older than 6 months and your email “Rules”. You will have to apply new rules to your email once the new system goes live.

What is my email address?

Your email address will be the same as it is now except in the rare cases of employees with middle initials in their computer login. Their new email address will include their middle initial.

Example:

o Employee Name: John Q Public

o Active Directory login: jqpub123

o Old email address: [email protected]

o New email address will be: [email protected]

Where can I learn more about Outlook Web Application (OWA)?

Check the BPS District Website for up-to-date information about the new system, as well as tutorials.

Goodbye

Welcome

This Summer, Buffalo Public Schools will be officially retiring Lotus Notes email after 20 years of operation. On June 25, 2013, Lotus Notes email servers will be turned off and replaced with Microsoft's Outlook Web App (OWA) on July 3, 2013.

Microsoft Outlook is a popular email application used by 90% of businesses today. Its intuitive interface makes it easier to use and cheaper to maintain than Lotus Notes. The IT Department anticipates increased communication, engagement and productivity with the new system.
