The Ad Council of America Society, Politics, & Progressive Advertising By Garland L. McLaughlin Over the years the Ad Council of America has been supportive in advertising for many causes in society. The Ad Council has also pushed for the agendas of political figures as well as Presidents. Giving back to society looks like it is the main focus of the Ad Council and being a leading organization at the forefront of issues has gained them the reputation of a most trusted organization. Everywhere on the radio today listeners are able to observe and hear advertisements that the Ad Council supports. It would not be uncommon to hear a classic advertisement which promotes Smokey the Bear saying “Only You Can Prevent Wildfires”. We all grew up hearing that slogan and it has stuck with us all. It is also not uncommon to find in these times that an ad has been created which pushes President Obama’s agenda. The education agenda recognizes that on average there is a 30
