Christmas Bauble by Sharon Wolf Whilst this document/design is copyrighted, permission to teach is granted to teachers who may provide their students with line drawings only, your painted designs may be painted on items for sale at craft fairs etc. Paint : Decoart Americana paint: Lamp Black, Titanium White, True Red, Alizarin, Baby Pink General: Snowflake Stamps (available from Inkylicious UK) Copyrighted design by Sharon Wolf – do not reproduce Surface: I have used 200g black card in the examples but it can be painted on anything i.e. canvas size of choice, coaster, plant pot, waste bins, tissue boxes or a box on the lid for storing special baubles maybe. If you think of something else please let me know! Optional Trimmings: Glamour Dust glitter, stick on ‘diamonds’ Brushes: Favourite Drybrush, no 4 Flat, stylus dotting tool, Liner and white watercolour pencil. Stamping with paint – thinly coat a piece of dense sponge or hard surface with T White. Lightly tap the stamp onto the paint ensuring you have white on each part of the image, then press (not too hard) onto the project or experiment with scrap card. Wash the stamps before paint dries in the crevices. I usually enhance stamped images with extra dots. 1. No preparation required to surface (if canvas) other than sanding with ’wet & dry’ sandpaper, then wipe canvas with damp cloth to remove resulting dust, let dry. Paint background with colour of choice. If using MDF, seal with all -purpose sealer, then lightly sand. Wipe surface with a damp cloth, let dry. 2. If using card, it’s worth painting it black first so that any little boo boos can be easily obliterated – if this buckles when damp, flatten out and dry with hairdryer. 3. Dry thoroughly then transfer design making sure the chain will hang straight!! Only trace on the ribbon if you prefer not to do this free hand. Use an eraser to lightly rub out the bauble outline so you can only just see it. 4. Bauble - Use a very dry drybrush with T White and a very light hand, to gently highlight a large section of each bauble. Keep the strongest highlights near the left hand side of the bauble. 5. Trace or freehand (with white water colour pencil) the top and bottom edges of the band. Drybrush this area to give a heavier look. Float T White scallops over the top and bottom edge of border. Use the tiny end of a stylus to add dots which enhances their look. Dry. Copyrighted design by Sharon Wolf – do not reproduce
