Conventional antics! … or another weekend away with the girls. A report on the 2017 BADFA Convention and AGM We knew it had started the moment Peggy Harris touched down at Heathrow. Sharon was there to meet her, and promptly whisked her in to London for a whistle-stop sightseeing tour. On Thursday we all headed towards Crick. Sharon and Peggy arrived early, but Diane arrived first and did most of the setting up, helped by some early delegates; Clare, Debra, Anna-Marie and others. Julie and Kim got diverted around most of Northants because of the overnight road closures around Silverstone and arrived about 9:30. Suz Humpheys got there in good time and her class was set up, too. Everything was ready to roll for Friday morning. Of course, we had The car is packed and ready to roll to sample Suz H and her FolkIt class the contents of the bar … just to make sure. Friday. Up, shower, breakfast, class. Peggy’s class was the Ziegfeld Girls, a set of dancing goldfish. Suz’s first class of the day was a stylised peacock feather. After lunch Suz took us into the world of FolkIt, where we learned some nifty techniques with a dotting tool, creating folk art hearts and designs. Our traders arrived, Lynn with her Jo Sonja paints, and a whole range of must-have bits, and Mark brought brushes by Artmaster. Add a pile of mdf blanks, by Rob the MDF man, and ceramic bisque items from Diane D, and even Aladdin would have been impressed.
