The Days of the Industrialization (Dec.2013). | Page 11

Is the Industrial Revolution good or bad? Is it worth the dangers? The few good things about the Industrial Revolution is the switch from gas to electricity. This is a really critical advancement. Electricity is a much cleaner and efficient way to power our street lights.

Women can now also work just like men! This a very big step for our country because we are now beginning to practice equality. Women can now be independent and support themselves without having to depend on men.

Another positive is modern buildings.Previously, many of our buildings could only be made out of woods and concrete. Due to the Industrial Revolution, the production of iron and a few other metals has allowed us to build sturdier and more attractive buildings! The Industrial Revolution has many positive effects but it still has its risks and negatives.

Factories can hire kids and pay them low wages. “Strappers” also bully these poor kids because they know the kids won’t say anything. Kids shouldn’t have to work the harshest jobs and be bullied. “Strappers” shouldn’t be allowed to hit and bully the kids and their should be strict rules put in place about child labor.

Also, another thing is the low wages and poor working conditions. Many workers are poor and aren’t getting anywhere. The conditions are also awful in the factory and working with the machines is dangerous. They should provide workers with decent pay and safeties such as safeguards on the machines.

Another terrible effect is urbanization. Much of the poor has to move closer to the factories to keep their jobs and this causes a build-up in turn overpopulating an area and causing poor living conditions. The places where people must live should be kept clean and maintained so cities don’t become poor and dirty. So it’s up to you to decide, is the Industrial Revolution good or bad? Send me your replies to Big Boy’s Press and we’ll look over them because it’s about the people!
