In early September London ’ s Guildhall hosted a fantastic party to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Unique Venues of London , an organisation packed with more events knowledge and experience than ever seen together before . In 2017 alone , UVL generated £ 91 million events revenue for London at 32,000 events throughout its 89 venues . Since 1992 UVL has made a significant and important contribution to London ’ s economy generating revenues to support the Museums , Galleries and Organisations which comprise its members as well as revenues for the hundreds of event suppliers which work in partnership with the venues to produce memorable events .
Unique Venues of London
25 Years of Success !
Sternberg Clarke Entertainment . Adam Sternberg was in attendance at the 25th Anniversary Party intently watching his artists perform passionate that they excelled to represent UVL at their best . And they did . Further details of all the generous supplier partners and Moving Venue ’ s creative canapé menu can be found on the UVL web site .
In the early days Museums and Galleries were just discovering how they could raise financial support for their main activity through event hire and the 20 or so initial members were more interested in sharing knowledge and ideas . They wanted to build a network of fellow professionals they could turn to for advice when trying to resolve the next conundrum of this emerging profession . Lin Kennedy from Banqueting House , Whitehall could phone Ian Fraser of the Natural History Museum when she needed assurance that production companies , florists and caterers would respect the Listed Building and ensure it was returned to function as a Historic Royal Palace at the end of an event . Shared marketing was low on the agenda .
Today UVL has grown into the ‘ go to source ’ of Event Space in London and generates significant referral business between its members .
Here ’ s to the next 25 years of success and growth for London !

Unmasked in Many Ways
What an experience !
Where else can you spend a good couple of hours in the presence of superb works of art , antiques and jewellery hosted with fine Gusbourne English sparkling wine and delicious canapes ? At the JDRF ‘ Unmask Type 1 Diabetes ’ Party at LAPADA - that ’ s where ! The somewhat clumsy title of the event does no credit to what a captivating superb event this is .
Welcomed on a warm September evening to a vast temporary structure in Berkeley Square with a chilled glass of the type of English sparkling wine that wins awards over revered Champagnes I was , almost , overwhelmed with the grandeur of items on display . Original Lowrys or Francis Bacons and signed Picasso lithographs in abundance . There were excellent examples of every style of art .
I loved a display called Neoclassical with honest reproductions of antiquities . I felt privileged being able to wander up close through a display of genuine antiquities . A stand of larger than life models of masked characters from the Venice Festival parade was slightly off putting but must be present because it appeals to others . Antique furniture from every era , in excellent condition , was in abundance . The jewellery was without end . The jewellery stand that caught my eye the strongest was the most ferociously lit stand . Intense spots streaming down on row upon row of diamonds . Well you want your diamonds to sparkle !
The unmasking of all this incredible art is to support JDRF ’ s drive to unmask Type 1 Diabetes . I certainly walked away with my eyes opened .
JDRF seems to have stepped beyond its official title of Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation in exposing Type 1 Diabetes from being a hidden condition affecting approximately 400,000 people in the UK , with over 29,000 of them children .
The Annual LAPADA Art & Antiques Fair in Berkeley Square showcases antiques , design and decorative arts , jewellery , furniture , carpets , tapestries , antiquities , clocks , ceramics , silver and fine art of the finest standard .
