as coal . Dark shadows pooled underneath them , the veins engorged and pulsating . His mouth was open slightly , his lips wet with saliva .
The Vampire pushed her head to the side , her neck vulnerable and exposed . James was suddenly aware of how fast her heart was beating . She wondered if he could sense her mix of excitement and nervousness .
“ There ’ s no going back after this ,” the vampire told her , his fingers running down the length of her neck . He traced the edge of her collarbone .
“ I know ,” James murmured . Just do it already , she wanted to scream . Not because she was afraid of changing her mind . But because she didn ’ t want to spend another second on this earth weak and afraid .
The Vampire leaned down , placing his lips against her neck . She could feel her heart beating rapidly , her blood pulsating in her temples . He kissed her then , gently and without malice . His lips were cold but smooth . The kiss of death , James thought joyously . The sweetest kiss .
And then , without warning , The Vampire plunged his fangs into her , tearing through her skin and into her artery . She gasped ; her eyes widened . James could feel the life draining out of her – every ounce of her energy literally being sucked from her body . The Vampire sensed her weakening , could see her veins going white , and grabbed her waist , his fingers digging into her flesh . He held her in place as he drank from her , her blood seeping into the fabric of her shirt .
James was in shock , her body frozen . She could feel his venom spreading throughout her body . Her mind was
