hanging above . Her hair whipped around her face , her nose and cheeks numb from the crisp , sharp wind . Where was he ? And then she saw him . The Vampire appeared so suddenly – materializing out of nothing . He wore black – he always wore black – and his long , leather jacket billowed around him . He was practically translucent , almost like he didn ’ t exist at all . The first couple of times they met , she was afraid he would fade into the night , become one with the shadows , never to reappear again . But he did . Every time , he did . She didn ’ t know why though , since he kept refusing her demands . Maybe he just liked playing with his food . A shiver crept down her spine .
“ You ’ re a difficult man to get a hold of ,” she said , her voice trembling . Was he still a man ? Probably not . He was something different entirely .
The Vampire said nothing . His lips were pressed together tightly like he was trying desperately not to say something . He stared at her , barely moving . A statue of skin and bone .
“ What do you want , James ?” His voice was low and stern , a dead end . Her eyes narrowed . “ You know what I want .” “ I gave you my answer .” “ Not the answer I wanted .” He laughed , shaking his head . “ You can ’ t have everything you want .” His lips curled into a smirk . She could see the tips of his fangs poking out from beneath . It felt like he was toying with her . And he probably was .
