Ultimate Frisbee began in 1968 by a group of students at Columbia Highschool in Maplewood, New Jersey. Since then it has rapidly spread to many countries around the world. There is now an annual World's Championships tournament every year in which international teams compete.

Basic Rules to Play Ultimate Frisbee

1. Each team has seven players on the field at one time.

2. The defensive team starts by throwing (pulling) the disc to the other team, this starts the game.

3. The offensive team must either wait until the disc hits the ground to pick it up, or must catch the disc successfully.

4. The offensive team must then work to move the disc to the opposite side of the field (endzone) to score.

5. Players must catch the disc and stop running as soon as possible. Then he or she must successfully throw the disc to another teammate before running again.

6. The disc must be thrown within 10 seconds.

The Layout of the Field in Ultimate Frisbee
