Miranda Lambert’s
Livin’ Like Hippies tour rolls into OKC
By Vallery M. Brown
OKLAHOMA CITY — Tough-as-
a-six-shooter Grammy winner
and former Oklahoma resident
Miranda Lambert plans a stop in
the Sooner State as she brings her
23-city “Livin’ Like Hippies Tour” to
the Chesapeake Energy Arena on
Mar. 9.
The tour is Lambert’s second in
support of her platinum-selling
2016 album, The Weight of These
Wings. This year’s tour takes
its name from the album’s song
“Highway Vagabond”, co-written
by Oklahoma native Luke Dick. It
appears on "The Nerve" side of the
24-song double album.
Lambert, who lived and operated
businesses in Tishomingo while
married to Okie Blake Shelton from
2011-2015, is a Texas native, two-
time Grammy winner and 23-time
Academy of Country Music Award
winner.
Joining Lambert on the "Livin’ Like
Hippies Tour" for all dates is singer,
songwriter and record producer,
Jon Pardi.
Largely considered by many to
be one of the top country albums
of 2016, “The Weight of These
Wings” won album of the year
at the 2016 Academy of Country
Music Awards, among other
accolades. Placing it at number 16
out of the 50 top albums of 2016,
Rolling Stone wrote of Lambert
and the album that, “[T]he new
country generation's leading outlaw
balances humor, regret, love and
anger in the brutally blunt way
that only she can. Both sides of the
album – and Miranda Lambert –
are effortless blends of modern
country pop with more soulful,
rootsy Americana …”
Lambert’s nonprofit MuttNation
Foundation will also collect dog
food, treats, supplies and cash
donations benefitting Norman’s
Second Chance Animal Sanctuary
before the show.
Supporters can drop off donations
and sign up for a chance to win
a meet-and-greet with the mutt-
loving superstar. Check venue
sites online for Little Red Wagon
collection times.
