TULSA, Okla. – From the streets of
L.A. to the streets of Tulsa, House
of Pain hypeman and founding
member, Danny Boy O’Connor, is
at home anywhere.
Right now that home – his actual
home – is Tulsa. O’Connor moved
to town this year to be closer to
his latest endeavor, restoring “The
Outsider House.” Located at 731
N. St. Louis Ave, the house featured
prominently in the 1983 Francis
Ford Coppola film, The Outsiders,
based on Tulsa author SE Hinton’s
1967 novel by the same name.
The movie had a profound effect
on a then 13-year old O’Connor.
Now he’s working to preserve a
significant piece of it.
The novel and movie tell the story
of two rival high school gangs,
the poorer “greasers” and the
wealthier “Socs.” The house on N.
St. Louis was the film location home
of the Curtis Brothers, 14-year old
Ponyboy, 16-year old Sodapop,
and 20-year old Darry.
