hat is the “new normal,” and how do you lead yourself and others through that new normal? That is the question that the speakers at the 2013 Jim Blanchard Leadership Forum sought to answer. On Aug. 26-27, hundreds of the leading minds in the Columbus area from different career fields descended on the Columbus Convention & Trade Center to hear from some of the world’s finest leaders on leading in the new normal. So, what exactly is the new normal? The new normal is an interconnected world, where industry and consistency take a back seat to innovation and novelty. The speakers, who ranged from business leaders, politicians, pastors, and even an astronaut, imparted knowledge on surviving and thriving in this new, ever-changing environment to local business leaders, CSU students, faculty, and staff in attendance. The JBLF is a conference hosted by CSU’s Leadership Institute, and there were plenty of Cougars on hand to benefit from the forum. In addition to President Tim Mescon, who began the forum with a welcome and remarks, quite a few students, including a group from CSU’s servant leadership department, were on hand to benefit from the knowledge.
