Communication Department hosts Communication Convocation

On Aug. 11, the Communication department held their annual Communication Convocation at the Riverside Theatre Complex to welcome incoming freshmen and returning Communication majors. With three offered degree tracks at CSU– Communication Studies, Mass Media, and Public Relations – the theatre was filled with potential and excitement from the students for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year. The convocation was more than the professors and directors putting voices and faces to the countless notifying e-mails over the summer. Instead, every Communication student’s time was well spent. There were upperclassmen and recent alumni present to challenge every student to travel beyond their comfort zone and to be constantly competitive. Communication scholars were divided into smaller groups. They had After hearing from the Department chair, the opportunity to network and give feedback on their experience. Dr. Danna Gibson, professors Roger Hart, Mariko Izumi, and Youngrak Park, the students were broken into groups to complete the outside scavenger hunt under an unusually clear sky. Activities included walking up to a stranger and telling them how much they love CSU, singing the very appropriate “Rain, Rain Go Away,” and acting out a crime scene t ???[??]?\?[?\?? ? H ?X?H ?][???
