Next year, we shall really see the impact that the prefect system has, as in previous years, when new year 7's start their high school life, they are required to find out what is right or wrong based on what teachers say, and influences around them. However, now they will able to visually see how a respectable student should act in and outside the school. Also, teachers would not feel as pressured as they do now due to the fact that students themselves will be sharing this weight, for example helping out with duty. Furthermore, students will now have a voice. Previously, if a student had an idea, they would not get the opportunity to execute it. The prefect system will give students the opportunity to do this.
'New year 7's will be able to see how students should act in and out of school'.
There are going to be other options in the future such as:
- Student council (this will be most beneficial for those who do not want any duty but still want contribute to the way the school is run).
- Mentoring schemes (this will be a chance for the older years to help the younger students in literacy, reading and numeracy).
Mr. Comrie gave a few wise words which are not only applicable to prefects, but everything in life, "It's as good as you want it to be".
