The first key in understanding
the financial impact of the data
disclosed in the FTC report is
that it is based on REPORTED
COMPLAINTS! The second key
is that the report is only those
complaints filed by individuals!
The third key is that the
report does not include any
information on RECOVERY
of losses or PROSECUTION
of perpetrators!
In addition, the National
Medicare Fraud Task Force
estimates that losses to
Medicare Fraud are $60 billion
per year, which represents
approximately 10 percent of the
program’s total expenses. Those
losses are comprised of 14.5
percent in false home health
care company claims; 16.2
