The following works of art were created in high school and college. I still have my portfolio with all of my earlier works. I may have them buried with me in my coffin or incinerated with me in my urn....haven't decided on that. You get the point, they'll be with me forever. It's hard to part with your creations as an artist. It feels as if you're giving up a child. The first work is a charcoal drawing of a man's face. The work following that is a watercolor painting of a man supporting his family and pulling them through a time of difficulty. Both pictures were created to convey a man's strength.
I still dabble in drawing from time to time. Drawing was always my preference rather than painting. My love for drawing transfered into a passion for design. So even more than drawing I enjoy designing.
Along with art and design I truly love creative writing. I’ve been writing poetry and short stories for as long as I can remember. In elementary school I wrote about three children’s books, and in high school I’d write pieces to perform in oratory contests, often winning top places. In college I wrote for the campus newspaper and magazine, then I had a dating column with The Examiner. Currently I'm working on a children's picture book, a book of short stories, and a short film screenplay in terms of writing endeavors. The following story is one of many that I've written that I hope to publish through this journal as well as through a variety of other sources. The story is titled Beasts and is a horror comedy. By horor-comedy I mean that humor is an inescapable element in every story I write. Even if I mean for it to be scary, by the end of the story I would have incorporated some kind of humor. I give up fighting it, I guess it's just my style. If you've ever lived in New York City you can possibly relate to Beasts.
